Health Interview

Interview an older person (at least 25 years old) you know who seems to be especially healthy. Complete the questions below as a blog post in your own blog.

What is his/her relationship to you?

Mother

1. Have you always been as healthy as you are now? Please explain.

Yes, since she was small my mum had been practicing a good diet, and she never had a prolonged/chronic illness.
2. What particular health habits in the following areas do you practice, that contribute to your level of health?

Nutritional Habits: Apart from veggies, she tries to eat only during meals and not in between. She does not eat junk food at all.

Fitness Habits: Working at home, occasionally gardening. Also tries to walk or cycle instead of using the car when possible.

Coping with Stress: 1. Compose herself
                                 2. Go over the problem
                                 3. Considering all options before making a decision. If unable to do so at the moment, she will take a break by doing something she likes before coming back to the problem.
Dealing with Conflicts: Forgive and/or forget when possible, try to think of solutions without becoming too attached to the problem.

Keeping a Positive Attitude: Thinking about people who are worse off, believing that problems and conflicts are natural life events.

Any Additional Healthy Habits: None

3. How did you develop these habits? Please explain.

These habits were developed over time through her own and other people's experience, with much influence from her mother, a nurse, especially when it comes to nutrition and hygiene . She also learned about health from educational campaigns in school.
4. What motivates you to practice a healthy lifestyle?

She wants to live an active life where she can help herself, and after seeing a lot of sick people in the hospital where her mum was working, she decided she wanted to be healthy.
5. Create a question of your own that you would like to ask regarding this person’s healthy lifestyle. Make sure that the question allows your interviewee to expand on his/her thoughts (not a one word answer).

Question: Is there anything you think you should/could improve on?

Answer: More excercise, e.g. a sport. to add from just daily chores and gardening. A regular excercise routine would guarantee consistent excercise.
